We are excited to be partnering with Penn State Nittany AI Alliance to collect data to develop proof of concept for a tool that uses AI to quantify crop damage caused by whitetail deer.

This Crop Damage project is being showcased as part of a joint agricultural progress display at Penn State's Ag Progress Days this week!

Pretty exciting stuff!

This fall, Nittany AI Advance will introduce the Crop Damage project, showcased as part of a joint agricultural progress display at Ag Progress Days!

The team is developing a proof of concept for a tool that uses AI to quantify crop damage caused by whitetail deer and will deploy field cameras and drones to collect imagery, which will be combined with satellite, crop, and weather data to train a computer vision model that can recognize deer in fields and provide critical information on crop damage. Special thanks to James Bowes at SKYi Drone Solutions for providing time and equipment this summer to support the effort!

- Okay, First off - I promise I won't do this much, I hate it as much as the next person.

BUT, I have some exciting news to share about a new offering that SKYi Drone Solutions is able to provide to the area!

SKYi Drone Solutions has recently received all of the PA Certifications & FAA Clearances to be able to provide Aerial Custom Application services! (PA Certified Aerial Pesticide Applicator Business and Technician)

Yeah, we get it, no one wants chemicals on their food or spread in general. BUT, the majority of food grown is able to be grown at the volume we need because of our ability to treat it for disease and competitive pressures.

Historically, this has been done by ground and airplane (or boat if your controlling weeds, etc. in waterways).

Drones offer a new mode of application. One that offers the benefits of aerial (no soil compaction, no crop loss from running over plants, the ability to get into wet fields), without the risk or noise of a low flying airplane.

When you add in the ability to utilize multispectral drones to scout and treat areas that need treated with precision - v.s. the blanket approach of treating everything and you have the opportunity to not only increase safety, but the potential to decrease pesticide use.

Better for the environment & for a farmers checkbook.

Anyone else waiting around for it to get completely dark with the hope of catching the Northern Lights again?! I can't be alone on this one!!!

While I was waiting I snagged a few 360 photos of PennWest Edinboro and Edinboro, PA!. Not sure which elevation I like the most, but I definitely enjoy the change of perspective...I'm leaning towards 350ft, I like that the lake comes into view and you can see the sunset reflecting off it!!
