Solar Light for Africa in a nonprofit Christian organization based in Melbourne, Florida, that is dedicated to providing solar energy systems to the people of Africa. We go to the most remote parts of Uganda and provide electricity to those who would otherwise not receive it. Through this service, people can be more productive, gaining access to television and the Internet. We are currently seeking donations from people in the US and Canada.

The final part of our journey was to Ntungamo, in the southwest part of Uganda! We have not traveled with a team to Ntungamo for many years and are so excited to travel back to this beautiful part of Uganda!
We first visited the Mama Janet Museveni School for Girls in the fall of 2023. We installed solar power on a classroom block, and added security lights around the campus We immediately fell in love with the girls and committed to coming back. On this trip we installed solar on another classroom block. It was great to visit with the girls who were studying under the light we previously installed. I told them I planned on returning in July with a team to install more light, and they cheered with joy!!

The second stop in our journey took us south to Jinja. We had visited Bridges of Glory School October 23, and installed solar security lights. We very quickly decided it was a place we would love to return. Bridges of Glory is a school for deaf children. We installed solar power in their girls dorm, and added more security lights!! The kids were so interested in our work and jumped right in to help!
I’m so excited to return on the Summer Mission to installed solar on the boys dormitory!

We traveled to Uganda in early February to check on some previous installations, complete some work, and scout for future projects.
We first traveled north to Lira, where we returned to the Shaunti School for the Deaf. We had previously visited on the last two summer missions, and had completed all but two primary student dorms. We arrived and found out the students were still on break. Ugandan schools are very different without the students there! We quickly realized that we didn’t have quantity students but we had quality! The house matron was there with three of her sons, and we put them to work! They were so excited to have the opportunity to help with the solar installation! They were quick learners, and we hope we have planted a seed for their future careers!
We were able to complete two installations, and brought light to both the girls and boys dorm! This completes our work at the Shaunti School! I was able to interview Josephine while we were working and she shared th impact the light would have for her students!
We returned after dark to see how the light transformed the dorms and the paths between the dorms and latrines!

We have lifted so many panels, and have brought light to so many schools, clinics, orphanages, and many other facilities! We have accomplished so much in the last 25 years, but we have so much else to accomplish! Our list of schools in need of this transformative light continues to grow! We are so thankful for the support we have received in the past, and pray it continues so we can work to Illuminate - Empower and Transform!

We had an incredible visit to the Diocese of Maseno South in Kisumu Kenya! We were scouting for a possible partnership, and can’t wait to return with solar. We spent time at the Maseno School for the Deaf and Huma Girls School. It was a quick (being there, not getting there!) but very productive journey! We were also able to bless two of the clergy and our driver with portable solar lanterns!

Day 6 (day 5 we relaxed in the morning then drove back to Kampala)

We traveled to our final installation of the trip! I had visited Masulita Children’s Village a few years ago. The buildings very very dilapidated, so we only installed security lights around the compound. Since that time they have started replacing the buildings, and they are beautiful new homes for the orphans living there. We were able to install solar power on two of the homes, and add more security lights! We also had a great time with the children! While the guys were working we passed out sodas and mandazi, and fitted all the girls with dresses, and the boys with shorts! Most of the children were under five years old, so this light will be an incredible blessing for the mamas trying to take care of all of them in the dark!!
