We will prepare you and go with you!

Schedule:
Monday, May 5: Arrive in DC, prep meeting 8pm
(Will share materials with you if you arrive Tues morning)

Tuesday, May 6: 7:45am Group meeting to review materials and your visits schedule

9am - 5pm Meetings with US Representatives and agency officials

6:30pm Group Dinner

Travel home Tuesday night or Wednesday morning

Group pic of Texas members at the International Association of Structural Movers this year. LW Oney House Moving Inc. & The Sipe Boys Of Texas, LLC. also attended but had to get home prior to the banquet. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time in New Bern, NC. The DeVooght family out on a great show and were so welcoming. Gator Dodson was elected to as president on the IASM board and Mike Hindman was also elected to serve on the board. They are excited to bring a little Texas to this great organization! We hope everyone in our group will join and attend the IASM convention next year in Harrisburg, PA, the convention will be hosted by Buckingham/Wolfe House & Building Movers, LLC.

The 2025 IASM convention in New Bern, NC officially started this morning. There has been a big turn out so far and a good presence from Texas Structural Movers.

Our country is in for a rude awakening, most new home builders are using the cheapest materials and contractors possible in their construction practices. Our homes must be transported in one piece hundreds of miles down the road, for our framing we implement:

-All LVL floor joists and floor framing
-1 1/8” Advantech Subfloor/Adhesive
-Solid Studs
-Steel bar joists in vaulted ceilings
-Zip system wall sheathing & roof decking
-Not the cheapest carpenters, crews we know will stand behind their work and have a proven track record with us!

Look at the homes being built around you, they are mostly not implementing any of these framing strategies. When you consider a pier and beam home vs. a slab home, ask yourself what actually anchors a home to a concrete slab…

This was a sad deal, we are proud that we have been able to help some families rebuild in a short period of time!

One year ago, the Smokehouse Creek Fire tore through the Texas panhandle, leaving behind loss and heartbreak. Families lost homes, ranchers lost livestock, and communities lost pieces of their history. It was a hard day—one that we will never forget.

But if there’s one thing we know about West Texans, it’s that we don’t let each other stand in the fire alone. Firefighters and first responders ran toward the danger, knowing full well what was at stake. Neighbors showed up with whatever they had—trailers to haul livestock, warm meals, a place to sleep, even just a shoulder to lean on. People gave, not because they had to, but because that’s what we do. That kind of grit is what makes this part of the state special.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Chairman of the Investigative Committee on Panhandle Wildfires, digging into what happened and what we can do better. Our work has focused on making sure our communities have the resources they need to prevent and fight wildfires, holding the right people accountable, and pushing for solutions that actually help.

As we mark this anniversary, Governor Abbott has activated state wildfire response resources ahead of the elevated fire danger we’re facing this week. Dry conditions are here, and wildfires remain a serious threat.

Stay aware —watch burn bans, be smart with equipment. Let's do everything we can to prevent another devastating fire.

Texas takes care of its own. And as long as I’m in this fight, I’ll keep pushing to make sure the Panhandle has the support and attention it deserves. We know how to take care of each other in HD 88 -- I’ll keep making sure Austin does too.
