NOT SO Fun Fact - Thanks to a HORRIBLY COLD winter storm our BRAND NEWLY RENOVATED Retail Showroom / offices were completely flooded and DESTROYED 😭

🛑 MUST READ - SO COOL!! 🛑

We ❤️ LOVE ❤️when people reach out to us with information about the HISTORY of our barn!

A wonderful gentleman named Rick Paddock shared some very extensive (and amazing) family history. His records pointed in the direction that his GREAT GREAT GREAT grandfather HARVEY PADDOCK, most likely lived on our land!

With that information in hand, we were able to spend the afternoon with LaPorte County Historian Bruce, that helped our kids and I to dig deep into the archives at the La Porte County Historical Society to discover a MAP FROM 1862 with “H. PADDOCK” on our land!!!🤯🤯

**Prior to this info we only had facts dating the barn BACK TO 1920!!**

❓❓We still need to discover which year the barn was CONSTRUCTED!! Any tips would be appreciated!!! ❓❓

HUGE THANK YOU to Rick Paddock, (the extremely kind and patient) Bruce Johnson, and The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum for your help with these findings!

As you can see the EXPECTED COMPLETION DATE was 2022…. And in case you haven’t noticed that is NOT happening 🤪

It’s easy to be sad / frustrated that we are not as far along as we would have wanted to be…. But we try to remind ourselves of the successes we have had in OTHER WAYS along this journey (that have prevented the barn from being finished) !

So NO it will not be done in 2022… and quite frankly it’s an almost 8000sf FULL RESTORATION… so we have no clue when it will be done!

… but we can PROMISE YOU when it is done…. It will be worth the wait ❤️😀

🚩HUGE NEWS!!🚩
We received several emails (thank you SO MUCH Rick!) informing us that “according to family lore” (and extensive research he had done) - rumor has it OUR BARN could possibly have been BUILT IN 1866/1867!!

📰 Up until this tip we have only been able to find documentation leading back to 1920! 📰

❓Suggestions on finding records this far back?? What are your best HISTORICAL RESOURCES❓

We CAN’T WAIT to do some further digging to see if this is in-fact TRUE! 🤞

We plan on talking to the La Porte County Historical Society!

Growing up my family had a restaurant with an old phone booth like this in it that my grandpa 😇 had made!

Keeping thinking about how cool it would be to find one similar to this and put it in the Speakeasy at the barn one day?!?

Today our sweet Kailey saw a friend she hadn’t seen in years ❤️ The first thing she says is…. “Did you know we have a HUGE BARN… my family is making it into an AWESOME house!?!” 🥰

Love sharing this experience with them so much 🥰 They are SO PROUD to be a part of it.

⛳️INDIANA /MICHIGAN LOCALS:

Our family has absolutely LOVED learning about all of the stories our barn and it’s property has had over the last 100 + years!

We learned there was EXTENSIVE plans to turn the barn, and dozens of acres from Indiana - Michigan into Chateau Ridge Country Club (in combination with the barn remaining La Chateau an upscale restaurant ).

We have found many articles about the plans/proposals but can’t seem to find any additional information on why it never happened.

Does anyone have PHOTOS of the proposed plans? Information? Newspaper Articles?

📍 I have said it before, and I will say it again.... the BEST part about this barn renovation is the PEOPLE we have met and the EXPERIENCES along the way!📍

I met these amazing women through our love of Barndominiums and now we are friends for life (from LITERALLY all over the US!)

Guesses on where we are going next!?!
