We officially gave the Jennings Park keys to the Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department in a key turnover ceremony earlier this month. The new park brings 4 baseball fields, 4 soccer fields, a field house with a second story press box, pickleball courts, and more to residents of Statesville, NC. Each attendee walked away with a commemorative pickleball kit for two so they can take advantage of the new facilities. We loved celebrating this project with the folks that we worked so closely with to build it, and we can’t wait until everyone gets a chance to visit this 69-acre multi-sport complex!

We’re continuing our celebration with a highlight of Project Manager Lisa Gerard and Vice President of Finance Jennifer Geis, two of the founding members of Edifice Elevates, Edifice Construction’s philanthropic committee.

In 2021 Lisa and Jennifer, along with Senior Superintendent Dan Radford and Construction Manager Tim Clark, were challenged by Edifice leadership to create a program that sets the structure for how the company gives back to the community. They wanted to find a way to offer employees an avenue to have a direct impact on the causes they supported. “It’s easy to write a check,” Lisa said, “but we wanted it to be different.” From this, the Edifice Elevates committee was born.

One of the key principles of Edifice Elevates has been to seek out local organizations that may not always get the spotlight. “Many high-profile organizations receive a ton of support, especially around the holidays,” Jennifer explained, “so we look for those smaller local groups in need of year-round help.” This approach has led to strong bonds with unique organizations like Wings of Eagles Ranch, Freedom Communities, and Charleston Animal Society.

While the founding members of Edifice Elevates may have passed on the torch, the impact of their leadership withstands. “The mission remains the same,” Jennifer said. “We set it up to evolve, bringing in fresh perspectives while staying true to our purpose.”

Now, the Edifice Elevates committee consists of a revolving group of members that each stay on for a two-year term, ensuring a constant flow of new ideas. Quarterly, the committee organizes a group volunteering day that gets employees directly involved with nonprofit organizations supporting the communities in which Edifice builds. Each outing caters to a different community need and different volunteer skillset, giving all employees an engaging opportunity to give back.

Edifice Elevates has become more than an initiative – it's become part of our company’s identity. “Employees will come up to me and ask me about the next Edifice Elevates volunteering event,” Lisa shared. “They are so excited about it.”

As we continue our series, we’re highlighting more of the talented women at Edifice Construction who embody our commitment to excellence. Today, we’re featuring Danielle Kuhn, whose passion for building relationships with industry partners has led her to help launch Queen of the Green—a networking group empowering women through golf.

From catching up with a client on the back nine to chatting about a future joint venture at an industry tournament, golf is intertwined with how commercial real estate (CRE) and architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms do business. Like the AEC and CRE worlds, the game of golf is a male-dominated pastime. Women account for less than 25% of golfers, less than 25% of AEC professionals, and less than 40% of CRE professionals. Through their hands-on education and networking events, Queen of the Green is lowering the barrier to entry to these golf-centric opportunities, helping women thrive both on the fairway and in the workplace.

In August 2023, Danielle teamed up with Ashleigh Mellon of Geo Hydro and Morgan Grohol of BGE Inc. to create the initiative. The goal is to help women in AEC and CRE feel confident and connected through golf, both professionally and recreationally. Partnering with Colleen Shephard of Cocoon Golf, they offer lessons for beginners and host events to teach golf fundamentals, etiquette, and its role in business.

Since its launch, Queen of the Green has gained momentum, drawing women eager to improve their skills while building professional networks. This month, they’re hosting their inaugural Nine Hole Golf Tournament, allowing participants to test their skills and network with others.

Danielle’s Queen of the Green group is a testament to the tenacity of women in construction. Both her dedication to ensuring women in the AEC and CRE industries have a seat at the table – or in the golf cart – and the eagerness of the participants to learn these skills show strength and commitment to making an impact in the industry.

We are proud to support Danielle’s initiative as she paves the way for a more inclusive industry for both our employees and our business partners.

As we continue our series, we’re highlighting more of the talented women at Edifice Construction who personify our dedication to excellence in construction. Today, we’re featuring Bridget Earnhardt, a project engineer determined to carve her own career path.

When Bridget started at Edifice, she had a clear goal: to build a career in project management. After more than six years of working in emergency veterinary medicine, she knew she was making a major career shift, but she was determined to make it work.

Bridget joined the team as a project administrator (PA) as her first step towards working on the job site. “I started at Edifice with the intent of eventually moving into project management,” Bridget explains. “That was something I brought up in my interview, and since then, everyone has been incredibly supportive of that path. In addition to building knowledge to take on an operations role, she appreciates the unique perspective she gained in the PA role, which is focused on cost analysis, document control, relationships with subcontractors, and tracking and reporting for regulatory agencies. “I feel lucky that I started as as a PA,” she says. “It gave me a huge appreciation for all that goes into executing a construction project."

Now, Bridget is making her construction management debut, stepping into a project engineering role. She credits much of her growth to the people she’s worked with along the way. “The biggest resource has been the team at Edifice. The project managers and superintendents love to teach, and I’ve never felt like a question I asked was stupid. That support has made all the difference.”

As she embarks on her first project in an operations role, Bridget is excited for what’s ahead. “I can’t wait to be in the field, watching a building come up from the dirt. That’s what I’ve wanted from the start, and I’m so grateful to be here.”

Bridget’s journey is a testament to the opportunities available in construction for those willing to learn, grow, and take on new challenges. “There are so many directions you can take in construction, and I’ve been lucky to find my fit,” she says. “I truly feel like anyone who joins Edifice can try anything they want to try.”

We are so grateful for the opportunity to help Bridget kick off her career in construction.

In celebration of , we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Margaret Markovich, senior project manager at Edifice Construction.

Margaret’s journey began with a passion for how learning buildings come together. She earned her master’s degree in industrial technology and construction while working full-time as the office manager for a general contractor. Now, her 22 years of industry experience on both the construction manager's and owner's side of a project give her a unique combination of hands-on experience and deep industry knowledge.

Margaret’s dedication to Excellence in Construction is evident in every project she leads. She bridges the gap between stakeholders with a collaborative approach and ensures that clear expectations are set from day one. As she puts it, “It’s more about getting everyone’s input and making it a team effort.” This mindset has led to long-term partnerships and repeat business, reflecting her commitment to client satisfaction.

Her leadership also embodies our core value of Never Walk Away—Margaret stays engaged through the entire lifecycle of a project, ensuring success long after the construction phase is complete.

We’re proud to celebrate Margaret’s story and the impact she has on Edifice and beyond. Stay tuned as we continue to honor the incredible women at Edifice Construction this !

Storyhill Church recently hosted a dedication service in their beautiful in-the-round sanctuary to commemorate the completion of their new Davidson, NC church. The ceiling of the sanctuary, which positions speakers on the floor in the center of circles of theater-style seating, features beautiful exposed mass timber trusses. We were grateful to join the parish in the celebration of this project with such stunning, unique features.
