Warmest wishes this holiday season from our newly expanded team!
mcCallumSather and Edge Architects are excited to work towards greater opportunities in 2024.
In honour of our clients, partners and friends, we've made a donation to Tree Canada / Arbres Canada, an organization dedicated to planting and nurturing trees across the country.
Edge Architects understood early on that their ability to successfully deliver complex projects required collaboration, and as such they focused on building strong relationships with industry partners and aligning themselves with people and organizations who shared their vision. This ethos led to the establishment of an excellent working relationship with the team at mcCallumSather.
Successful past collaborations include the GloveBox redevelopment in downtown Kitchener where Edge Architects provided architectural services and mcCallumSather provided heritage consulting services.
The GloveBox has been awarded with the Grand Valley Construction Association Restoration/ Conversion Award, City of Kitchener Schmalz Award for Design Leadership and the City of Kitchener Mid-Rise Building Award.
The Westinghouse HQ, built in 1917, is a historic landmark in Hamilton, ON and the LEED Gold Certified 2nd level is home to mcCallumSather. The firm was able to apply their strengths in heritage and mechanical when reviving the building into a Net Zero Ready, seven-story modern workspace, garnering awards like the Hamilton-Halton Engineering Project of the Year, Peter Stokes Restoration Award and more.
Edge Architects have a strong understanding and a fundamental belief in tackling the housing crisis. Working with not-for-profit clients who are providing different types of housing in the community threaded together with relatable, prefabricated design practices and principals has been a core part of what they do. Their strengths in supportive and affordable housing has recently brought them outside of their regional focus of Kitchener/Waterloo to Iqaluit, Nunavut. This opportunity helps grow their designs and creative solution based services.
The champagne was popping as mcCallumSather and Edge Architects celebrated both teams coming together.
Last week, mcCallumSather was pleased to announce that it entered into an agreement to acquire Edge Architects. As of January 1st, 2024 the combined firm will work under the name of mcCallumSather, which will offer their clients a diverse but centralized service base around innovation and sustainability.

Members of the mcCallumSather team were excited to act as tour guides this morning as part of the Ontario Library Association ’s Annual Institute on the Library as Place.
This year’s theme was Designing Sustainable and Resilient Libraries in Accelerating Times, so it was only fitting for the group to tour The Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation at Mohawk College , one of the first ZCB Certified facilities in Canada; and the addition of an expanded library at the Valley Park Community Centre, a newly completed project with LEED Gold Pending.
These two signature designs demonstrate how #HamOnt is embracing sustainable transformation.
With soaring palm trees and bright interior, the Gage Park Greenhouse is a tropical escape in the heart of Hamilton.
We designed the greenhouse as a community gathering place, one where visitors can learn about and appreciate the City’s substantial collection of subtropical plants and rare species.
Admission to the greenhouse is free all year long.
It's #FitnessFebruary at mcCallumSather 💪 We kicked off the month-long event with a lunchtime pilates session led by Studio Zee and hosted in Sanford Hall's beautiful theatre, located on the first floor of Westinghouse HQ. The sore abs are certainly worth the improved posture.
Warmest wishes this holiday season from the mcCallumSather team 🎄🎁 This year, we’ve made a donation to Tree Canada / Arbres Canada in honour of our clients, partners, and friends.
