Monarch Vegetation Services, Inc. planted this site last summer with the Ernst Seed “Fuzz n Buzz” seed mix designed for sheep grazing and pollinator benefits as well as easier vegetation maintenance on site. It’s great to see it finished and coming around full circle!

Happy Pollinator Week! We are so excited to celebrate this week we are having a giveaway today! We are giving away this basket of many local handmade goodies including this butterfly house; Dandelion Jelly made by Lindsey White, MVS Director of Development; Stained Glass piece made by Janice Mooney; Local Honey made from bees in the production fields of Ernst Seed thanks to Vorisek's Backyard Bee Farm. If you already have or thinking about getting a butterfly house here are some great tips to follow: Your butterfly house should be placed in a sunny location in the garden away from prevailing winds. It should be mounted on a pole or tree about 4 feet off the ground. Inside the house, place a couple slabs of tree bark in a vertical position. This is to provide the butterflies more shelter and something to cling to. Be sure that the bark is not blocking the entrance. The rough interior walls of the house provide perches for hibernating butterflies. LIKE, SHARE, and COMMENT for a chance to WIN! 🌱🦋🐛🐞🐝🌻🌸🍯

To celebrate World Bee Day 2021 🐝 Citizen Science is working with Penn State University and Purdue University in a CARE grant study of genetic traits. This blind study is recording temperament, honey production, swarm tendencies, overwintering as well as virus and mite resistance. Monarch Monday:

Weight transfer is rated in pounds per square inch (PSI). Tracked machines have a much greater ground contact area than wheeled equipment. The length and width of tracks cover a larger area than wheels do. This significantly reduces load transfer and creates much lighter PSI sharing than wheels can ever accomplish. Low ground pressure equipment is heavy equipment that has been specially designed to spread the weight of the equipment over a larger area. Great for moving around without soil impact
